A heavy heart thumps rapidly.
Paws pounding steadily against
cold, damp ground.
Claws raking with every bound.
Misty breathe seeps from her charcoal
nose with every gasp.
Dark ears thrust forward and back.
Light brown coat brushing over fallen
trees and shrubs.
A deafening CRACK heard from above,
halting her fast paced stride.
Drops fall as they become heavier.
Another CRACK sounds, sending
shivers that bristle her coat all down
her flexible spine.
A howl echos in the distance,
summoning her to him.
Sounding mournful and sad,
she returns the call.
As she leaps forward,
starting once more.
All the while wishing to
see him soon.
