Continued from here

Casually Charon tasted at his cigar. Neither letting it smolder away nor taking big puffs. Much like how a gentleman would sip at his liquor, Charon gently would pull in a little of the cigars taste and then let it rise from his lips rather than exhaling it. It calmed his nerves and especially after tonight, he appreciated every drag he took from the only cigar he had, wanting it to last as long as it could. The time smoking forced him to at least take his mind of the racing thoughts and take a step back and reflect at his own speed. He needed it.

Voicing his new found goal to the girl, it seemed she wasn't too worried in getting caught up in a man's dream. However, she did acknowledge him at least with a half smile and nod of her head. There was a silent mutual agreement between them that they were to never speak of tonight to anyone or amongst themselves ever again. She beckoned both of them to get going. With no qualms, Charon followed suit. He walked slowly behind her, trying to ignore the fact she was injured and yet still wanted to go elsewhere. Realizing what the purpose of the pockets were on his trousers, monstrous sized paws couldn't fit inside them. Instead, only the first three fingers could fit. The slow, deliberate speed was nice and Charon appreciated it. This time, they weren't in much of a hurry anymore once away from the library and the city. Thick and gnarled claws clicked against the asphalt with each step until they finally had reached where roadways failed to go. It seemed they both knew where they were going: back to where they both first met one another. He supposed it was the only place they could go, really. They both got to the farm where he had been shot. Fortunately, they were able to slip by without alerting anyone. It would seem the farmer kept his dogs inside for the rest of the night and wee hours of the morning as well. Soon, the tall grassy plains were in sight. Only a matter of time before they found his previous and temporary 'den', if someone could call it that.

Charon had remembered Yuzuki speaking her desire to bathe earlier and realized such once the both of them had found the stream, not even a day earlier, the wolves had met each other's acquaintances. Allowing the female to have her privacy, he turned his back to her. "I'll be this way", Charon lazily gestured in the way he thought his makeshift den was. With that, he left Yuzuki to her devices. Finding the flattened grass area, from what he could remember, it looked the same as he left it. "What now?" The heaviest question he has asked himself in a long time. He exhaled a long sigh and a paw lifted to lift to rub at his forehead, sliding past his temple and down his cheek. Picking what was left of the cigar from his teeth, all what was left was the stub. Freezing it, Charon flicked it off into the distance. Wanting out of this form, he shifted into his feral form. Kicking off what was left of the pants, Charon found a spot away from where Yuzuki will probably be coming from and sat himself down. Sliding on his forepaws, he let himself down and laid his chin on his crossed paws.

Slowly, eyelids fell, only 'resting his eyes'. He shallowly napped until the sound of rusting grass and pad-fall brought him back to reality. Finding it to be Yuzuki, looking just like him. She had used the shirt that he had given her. Teal eyes looked up at she entered and he had noted how much the contrasting black fabric covered her star white fur. At least she appeared ok. In the back of his mind, he hoped he didn't have to see the bandages for too long on her. Eyes falling off of her form, he spoke, "I suspect since the answer was found, you'll be on yer way?" Even though he did not want to speak about it anymore, he tried to be as vague as he could about it without being too specific. Despite his wish for her to leave so he doesn't risk hurting her anymore, he did decide earlier that night that he would have to keep his eye on her now that she knows of his secret. But...

Yuzuki noted that Charon had looked at the bandages on her, she sighed, they would be there for only a matter of days, two at the most, before she wouldn't need them anymore. She turned to him, meeting his eyes as he spoke. She let his question linger for a moment as she simply watched him. She had the slight impression that he wanted her to go, or maybe he thought she knew too much about him now. After a time, she stood, ''And, do you want me to be on my way Charon?'' She looked down at him, waiting for his response. If yes, she would leave and that would be that. She didn't know what his answer would be, but she would respect it all the same, if be a slightly bit pissed off also.

It had been a long and tiring day since she had met Charon, and already she had learnt a lot about him, his love of puzzles, glimpses into his past and the mystery surrounding him. She turned her side to him, glancing out, her eyes briefly going to the frozen cigar resting on the ground nearby. She would leave now, this minute, if that is what he wanted. She had a feeling he would be keeping an eye on her though, after seeing what she had seen. She tried to remind herself not to get too familiar with him, not to get attached. Not so long ago this day, she had thought him perhaps a friend. But now, now she didn't know if he felt the same way she did, so she would wait to hear his response before making any further decisions in regards to him.

(Tsundere powers, activate!)

The more he thought about it, he really didn't know Yuzuki, nor it wasn't a strong desire for him to know more about her. Then again, he feels they aren't equal in that respect. She has witnessed so much about him that even he has found out new things about himself. There should be some sort of equivalent trade, Charon justified himself. Bluntly, he felt gypped and he really shouldn't just let her go like that. She owes him some sort of explanation of herself... or something other like that. Despite one to never really form any companionships, even questionable ones, for the sake of having one more life to worry about other than his own and ultimately getting close to another individual, he can't let Yuzuki leave. She has witnessed too much and yet he cannot justify killing her, even on a whim. Auughhh dammit! So many conflicting thoughts!

Perhaps asking if she was going to leave wasn't the best question to ask, as it would appear he was pushing her out of the 'home' he has made. There was a tinge of reluctance in his words, but there was no taking them back now. But that's what she said she would do, was help him figure this out. Now that answers have been found, what binded her to stay with him? That's what he had assumed anyway. He couldn't make direct eye contact with her, but he did he see her stand, causing him to look in her general direction. He could sense the feel of being let-down in her voice, answering him with another question. At least he had another chance, maybe to correct himself. Sitting back up, Charon tried elaborating on his first thought, "Didn't ya say you were gonna help me find... well, ya know... and since, uh, well... since it's been found..." He began to fidget with his indirect speech, really not wanting to speak of it anymore as it already started to weigh heavy on his mind again. His reasoning really wasn't helping much though as he could tell her expression hasn't changed hardly at all. Giving up on that route, he let out a tired sigh. He let out a tut before inhaling to speak again, "...Didn't you say you needed sleep? Well get some suddeye. We've both had a long day and you look tired so get some rest...Goodnight, Yuki - I mean, Yuzuki!" With that, already embarrassed of calling her something different other than her name, Charon flomped back down onto the ground. He could never get her name right the first time. He forced himself to lie on his side, turned away from her to hide his shame. Charon felt anxious as he spoke of more caring words, although he really didn't care for her in any way. At least maybe it'll make her stay rather than her running off and causing Charon to track her down only to ensure no word of his secrets were told by her to anyone else. Yes, that was his logic. Funny to think though, it was just about twilight, right before the sun would begin to rise, hencing it was already morning. Nonetheless, perhaps they could get some sleep before most of the day was gone.

Charon began to fidget with clear discomfort, he couldn't meet her eyes but hers remained firmly on him. She watched him tut and inhale and look away from her, wondering what on earth was going through his mind, she hadn't taken him for one to beat about the bush, but perhaps he was undecided himself what he wanted her to do. She looked past him a moment as he then piped up and spoke of sleep. Eyes widening slightly as her called her 'Yuki' she coughed a little to hide a slight laugh, seeing he was embarrassed by his mistake. She didn't know whether to be offended that he hadn't got her name right or if he were in fact trying to give her some sort of nick name. Whatever the case was she thought of it no longer.

Charon faced away from her and she stood there a moment deciding for herself whether to go or stay, but, she was indeed pretty exhausted and beat up, thanks to him, so she plonked herself down a little away from Charon and got comfortable. ''Goodnight, Charon.'' She took a deep breath before nuzzling down and slipping into a half arsed sleep, she wasn't completely trusting towards Charon and so her sleep would be a light one.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun Jan 11, 2015 7:14 pm

His head made a soft thump as it hit the pressed down grass. He bit his tongue from cursing himself and instead needed to remain quiet as a precaution nothing else unfiltered left his mouth. Charon could feel his ears flush from the giggles she was hiding behind a fake cough. The shame he has brought onto himself from a woman. If he was going to have this much trouble in enunciating her name, perhaps the effort was needed in getting it correct. Or maybe, what he had sputtered earlier would stick in his mind easier despite it not being her actual name.

Nonetheless, she bid him goodnight in return and the twilight grew silent before them. It wouldn't be too long until other creatures of Kesel would begin to wake up and start their day. Eyes closing, Charon urged his mind to ease up on the torrential thoughts that crashed within his head. Just enough to get some sleep. Reality began to fade as subconscious darkness welcomed him. Time slipped past as the two wolves rested their bodies and minds. Well, at least his body. Charon's mind became restless again and soon would spawn a dream. Much like an old movie reel starting up, memories flickered until they focused in on one piece of time of Charon's life.

The male was running. He was running away from something. Another dark figure was sprinting parallel to him and it, too, was running from something. Barking could be heard in the distance behind them along with sparse gunshots. The dark figure closed the distance between it and Charon. It, too, was a wolf, looking near identical to Charon. The two of them looked to each other and with a silent gesture, split up going different ways. Soon the barking and gunshots drew further away. Had they lost them? His assurance turned to fear as a hurtful howl echoed multiple barking dogs. Turning towards the distant sounds, Charon ran as fast as his legs could carry him. "Raleigh!" His name was shouted by the other wolf that was by his side not too long ago. Human talk was drowned out by the barking dogs and soon Charon had made it to where all the commotion was. Another pang of fear struck as he saw the wolf hanging in a rope trap above the ground. The humans prodded at the wolf with their guns, laughing and boisterous with their catch. Charon grew angry and ice began to form around his body. Ready to leap from where he was hiding, he saw the other wolf shaking his head. Charon "lowered his fists" so to speak, and the ice went away. Unable to rush in, Charon was unsure how to free him. Then from one of the pockets of the humans, a couple sticks with a wick on the end were drawn. More laughter roared from the fur-less beasts as the sticks were placed beneath the rope netting and the wolf's snared body. Both Charon and the other wolf were confused as the sadistic human lit the end of the wick. Even not knowing what it was, Charon could sense whatever it was, it wasn't good. Going against what the other wolf gestured, Charon rushed in and went for the human that had the still lit match. Mass confusion broke out as it was one wolf against 3 hunters and their pack of dogs. Confusion became chaos as shots were fired at Charon and the dogs all attacking at once. Charon threw them off only for another to leap onto him, following their master in blind obedience. The butt of a gun crashed against his head, dazing the wolf and bludgeoning a good hole in his head. It healed quickly, however the fight was not in his favor as the wick grew shorter. "Lee! Get me outta here first! We can take 'em all on! Just get me out!" The voice could hardly be heard with the ruckus. "I'm trying! There's too many of 'em! I can't use my ice with by body becoming more holy than the heavens!" A human then noticed how short the wick was getting as it sizzled away. Charon saw the human rush over to where the snared wolf was and breaking free, he charged the human. Charon grew desperate and having the human pinned, he dug his fangs into his neck and ripped at his throat. Killing one, his victory was short lived as another kicked him off his dead friend and then another whack upside the head with the butt of his gun. Turning the gun around, the human fired off another shot into Charon's chest area. It knocked him back a few steps but the wound soon healed. His vision went hazy as the hit jarred his head. Recollecting himself, the humans retreated with their dogs. Confused again, his name echoed in his ears "Lee! Lee!" "Brother! They're gone! I'm -" The wick fizzled out with a silent pause of dread. A bright light and fire erupted in front of Charon, throwing the wolf back. Ears grew deaf with ringing. The pain from the fire, explosion and his body being thrown back began to subside as Charon righted himself. The sight that he beheld next was hellish as the smell of smoke mixed with blood. A ravaged, limp body lied lifeless on the ground,"BROTHER!"

Eyes shot open as Charon gasped for air, his heart racing, the fingers of his nightmare finally released from his throat. Pulling himself to sit up, his face was aghast as he tried to convince himself that the nightmare was over, only to remember that it wasn't only a nightmare, but a memory that has been haunting him for centuries. And every single time, he can never make it in time. It seems Lucifer has loosened his grip on Charon's mind as most of his lost memories have resurfaced and he has faced them. However, his brother, were one's that still to this day, Charon still cannot face. "Why, brother, must you still frequent my dreams?"

Forcing his body to calm, Charon glanced back at Yuzuki. Not waking her, it seems she was still asleep. Needing her sleep, Charon remained silent. Lying back down to face the sky, it was bright blue and the sun was near the center of the sky. The ambient sound of birds chirping and the wind stroking the wild grass came and went. Staring blankly as clouds passed, Charon could only reflect on what had transpired within the last 24 hours. Reaching his left foreleg up towards the sky, he unraveled the scarf that hid the runes. Staring at the white symbols, he wondered what triggered them. Looking to the motionless Yuzuki, he pondered whether or not to embrace such power, as he knew what effects could become of it. He remembered what he did, however he did not see Yuzuki, but Lucifer in her place. Once he saw her again, the power relinquished enough for him to suppress it. He had his goals, however killing her was not one of them.

Standing to his feet after some time, Charon remained quiet as his body would let him. His stomach growled. Unable to ignore it, he would have to hunt for two now and the thought of sharing his food made him feel like a selfish pup wanting his meal to himself. Being surrounded by wild grass, the noise he would create would make his trip pointless so he jumped up and created an icy surface over top of the grass, freezing the blades underneath. Running across his icy bridge, Charon left to fetch some lunch.

The sun had reached further west by the time Charon made his way back. Forgetting that Yuzuki might be still asleep, Charon carried his kill on his back all the way to his temporary home. Breaking the wall of grass to the 'den', he shrugged the heavy animal off and would sit back down in his spot. He licked at his whiskers, his fur stained with the blood of his lunch. The elk was fully intact albeit it's throat ripped out, ready to eat.

(Sorry for the wall of text, but maybe introducing this will help it keep going because I feel since Charon has found some answers, the topic would soon grow stale. If you disagree or had an idea yourself, let me know :3)

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyFri Feb 06, 2015 6:08 pm

Yuzuki was awoken by a gasping Charon, she briefly looked at him but went back to closing her eyes seeing that he was fine. Whatever it was, it was probably something he didn't want her seeing, he seemed to stick to his old mind in the way he saw females. She did however hear him question.. his brother? She continued to close her eyes, feigning sleep but her natural curiosity did make her wonder about this brother of his, and what may have happened to him. She heard him lay back down and eventually she fell back into her light sleep, leaving him to himself.

After a while, Yuzuki's body felt cold and she groaned with annoyance with the recognisable feeling. She stirred, her eyes opening in a squint to the bright and burning sun above. Turning her head to the source of the cold, her eyes met the icy grassed surface that Charon had left and she tutted begrudgingly, flicking a stone against a bit of it and watching a chip of ice break off and fall to the ground. It reminded her of how easily she had been flung around, and that thought made her recall her injuries, ''Arghh, yeah...'' She looked down at herself and sighed. She couldn't see Charon around so he had either gone off somewhere to do his own thing or he had left, either way, it would be what it would be.

Yuzuki didn't move from where she sat for a while, she looked about at the life around her, from the birds to the...ants, wrong time of year for bees and all. She wasn't sure how long she had slept for, but it was probably already pretty far on into the day. Yuzuki was usually the early riser type, getting up at this time put her out of whack a bit, even if the sleep had been well needed.

Eventually she got up and had a well needed stretch before walking the short steps to the river nearby. Once there she just walked right in, welcoming the refreshing water as it covered her. Shifting into her feral form, Yuzuki felt the bandages at her wounds tighten in place, she was tempted to bite them off, let the water bathe them and the fresh air do the rest, but she knew from experience that the flies would only come and be a pain in the ass, in this form anyway.

She plunged her head below the water, eyes opening as she watched the current beneath. She felt better for the sleep she had had, some of her lost strength had regained and she didn't feel like she was about to keel over any moment. If Charon ever decided to turn 'bad', she knew he would be hard to deal with. Her thoughts went to him again as she moved her head back to the surface to  take a breath, he had woken himself from a bad dream, a dream about his brother. She was considering asking him about it, she had been thrown into the deep end of his life already, so would it really be too much of an invasion of privacy now?

She was pulled away from her decisions as footsteps approached, she moved to the river bank and watched as Charon parted the grass and appeared with food. Her stomach grumbled impatiently, she hadn't realised how hungry she was. She shook herself off, water spraying every which way from her now clean fur before making her way back over. ''You sharing this, or shall I go get my own?'' She didn't want to just chow down on his meal if it was solely for him, even if she did want to.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyTue Feb 10, 2015 5:43 pm

The heavy animal in which he killed for food laid slumped over Charon's back as he carried it back 'home'. If this food was his, he would have frozen it, finding that in the past of doing so, kept the food fresh and all the fluids intact. However, as it was not, he didn't know how Yuzuki would feel about it and just left it as it. Parting the wall of tall grass to enter the flattened area, he noticed that Yuzuki was awake and freshly bathed... again. "Oh, yer a-", in the midst of drying herself, Charon caught some of the water which she shook off herself. "-awake." Charon grunted at the greeting's he got in return. Entering himself, the 300kg animal slid off his backside and onto the ground with a slump. With a downward stretch, Charon felt a few of his vertebrae pop back into place. Wasn't surprising after carrying such a heavy load for over an hour. Well, he probably would have returned sooner if not for getting lost.

Entertaining himself with a sit, Charon began to lick at his whiskers, sometimes running a gnarled claw over them to squeeze some more blood and grease out from his fur. Licking his leftovers off his paw, Yuzuki inquired about the food. He wasn't surprised that she half assumed that he would bring back a kill solely for himself. Though he wondered if she did indeed notice that he was licking his chops like he already had his meal. Thinking of a sarcastic response, he bit his tongue and actually thought ahead of how that would affect a morning like this one. Figuring it was not the most appropriate time, Charon stopped and looked to her. Taking the fraction of a second to observe her injuries, he wondered about their state. "I already had one; 'tis all yours", he simply said. He wasn't going to urge her to dig in, as he already heard a growl of a stomach soon after he returned. The fact she was hungry has already been made clear.

Finishing his leftovers and cleaning his sooty colored fur, his mind was a little hesitant on voicing an observation. Whether her hunger negated her injuries or if last nights rest had already begun to heal her wounds, the food that he had given her wasn't going to slow her down. "You seem-", he cleared his throat, "Yer wounds, they seem to be healing good... How, eh, how you feeling?" Not meaning to interrupt her meal, but such a question he needed to get off his mind. He couldn't go not knowing if the toll he had done on her body was as severe as he thought, not to mention her mental state. Was she scared to be around him now? Did she only stay with him in fear of getting killed if she decided to run away? Charon had the feeling these things should be cleared up, but he didn't exactly know how. For all he knew, he would make things worse. Talking was not the best way to portray his feelings.

After falling quiet for a while, he allowed her to peacefully eat and Charon moved to sit out of her peripherals. Nothing left on his mind to say, the quietness of the mid-afternoon lulled him into an involuntary sleep, his head and eyes drooping. Falling into a short slumber, sitting up, the dream that had awoken him just a few hours earlier returned. Flashes came and went, rather than a smooth playback. Fire, heat, smoke, blood, screaming, crying, shaking. These terrors had overtaken him, causing his body to shiver and his voice to sputter out mumbles, making incomprehensible slurs, "Bruzuh...nn...why...why..dun't...". His voice became more distressed, building up until he suddenly woke up with a shout. "Don't die on me!" Eyes shot open and his breath became labored once again. Reality swooped back in, feeling like his dream had started and ended within an instant. His episode over, it seems he has gotten the attention of Yuzuki, whether or not she has finished her meal. What does he say, as she has witnessed one of his greatest weaknesses? Calming himself, Charon was unsure of how to react. "I'm fine..."

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyWed Mar 04, 2015 5:55 pm

Yuzuki noticed she had shook some of the water from her fur onto him, it made her grin a little to herself, serves him right for her waking up in his ice! He slumped the carcass down and Yuzuki heard the cracks coming from him, wondering how long he had been lugging it around for. Charon sat, and Yuzuki realised she didn't actually say hello, ''Uhm... I hope you managed to get a good rest...'' She said a little awkwardly, eyes looking around at anything but him. She wasn't used to all the pleasantries where Charon was concerned, but she didn't want to come across like an asshole either.

Charon looked like he had already ate, which surprised her if he did indeed bring this back for her. She would have expected him to just leave her to get some herself, or just freeze it to try and get under her skin or something. But no, he had taken the time to kill and bring her back a meal. She stepped towards it and lay down beside it, soon digging it with a subtle lick of her lips, the blood staining her freshly cleaned fur. ''Thanks...'' She muttered after swallowing a mouthful.

Yuzuki was enjoying her meal as Charon hesitantly asked her of her wounds. She paused and blinked a couple of times, the carcass blocking his view of her face for the meantime. He was asking if she was alright? Probably out of guilt, but then why did he feel guilty? She hadn't really pegged him for the caring type initially, but after protecting her at the farm, giving her some bandages for her wounds, bringing her food, and now asking how she was. She was beginning to think he had a heart under all that thick, thick ice of his. ''I'll survive, Charon.'' She glanced over the carcass to meet his eyes, ''They feel a bit better today. You don't have to....you know.... feel bad about it or anything. Everyone has a dark side and all that.'' She frowned to herself before going back to her meal, hoping she had cleared things up for him.

Yuzuki had her fill and rested her head on her paws beside the remains of the carcass, she glanced up to see some birds of prey circling above, probably waiting for the first opportunity to get a meal out of it also. Charon had fallen asleep and Yuzuki remained quiet to not disturb him, thoughts drifting to how she had come here, her journey with her former pack and the not knowing what to do with herself anymore. Besides now helping Charon anyway.

Yuzuki's ears twitched as Charon's body began to shake, she raised her head to see him sitting up and seemingly having another nightmare. She stood, hesitant as to whether she should wake him or not and forsake his pride. Whatever the dream was, it didn't look pleasant. Yuzuki stepped in his direction, ready to wake him but he woke himself up with a shout which vibrated in her oversensitive ears. He looked in a panic, and Yuzuki stepped to him again as he came to realise she was aware of what had happened. After a moment of him regaining his composure, he spoke. Yuzuki didn't want him to be embarrassed or anything, she simply nodded and glanced away, still standing near to him. ''You know, I think that maybe it is time we moved on from this place. Maybe walk a bit, find somewhere else. What do you think?'' She thought a change in subject and scenery would be a blessing right now.

Yuzuki was again curious about this recurring nightmare of his, she opened her mouth to ask, but stopped again. He would tell her if he wanted to, it wasn't her place to pry into more of his past.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyFri Mar 06, 2015 8:49 pm

Moving out of the way to allow Yuzuki to feast upon her meal, Charon took a seat not too close to her yet not so far away that it would make things awkward. Licking in between each toes of his forepaws and gnarled claws, eventually leaving his whiskers and chin for last. After a little bit of silence, Yuzuki spoke, although hesitantly. Stopping, eyes glanced towards her and didn't consider his answer for too long. "Yea, like a rock", he lied. For as far as he was concerned, she didn't need to know about his night terrors and how shitty he slept most nights. Finally, after staring at it for a while, the female dug into the meal that Charon had provided for her. He heard the gratitude for it, however unaccustomed for thanks or even doing such a caring act, his response was a bit delayed. "Mm", he grunted in acknowledgement.

Finishing cleaning himself and content with his belly still full, some air escaped his gut in a stifled, airy burp, the taste of the fatty animal he has eaten returning. The mood for such a hearty belch wasn't quite appropriate and thus he restrained himself. The sound of ambient grassy plains filled his ears, albeit the few smacking of lips and ripping of sinew coming from Yuzuki. Looking to the pressed grass he was sitting on, he pressed a toe into it and twisted it nervously. Eventually, he asked of Yuzuki's state of being and health. The question was bugging him and he knew that it would have eaten at him for a long time if he hadn't asked. His paw fidgeted more until he heard her answer. Finally, she did answer, declaring that she would survive, having a tone that said, 'Don't worry about me'. Brown eyes looking to his, he glanced, but was unable to keep the contact for the whole time she spoke. When she spoke of 'everyone's dark side', he broke the eye contact. He was more concerned than anything, however the idea of even caring about her ate at his pride. Voicing it was out of the question. Returning to her food, teal eyes looked away, unsure of what to say, if anything. "I've killed countless others, Yuki-Yuzuki, not that I'm particularly proud of the majority of them. Carnage has become numb to me. I've bashed heads in, ripped throats and watch lives drain from their eyes. I'm numb to it all..." He fell silent for several seconds, "But, after I realized what I had done to you, I felt... sick to my stomach", eyes glanced to her then away again. It was the truth, however the feeling of admitting such a thing he felt he was just shaving away at his masculinity.

He fell silent once again, the quietness of the afternoon lulling his mind into an involuntary sleep. His night terrors resurfaced, repeating themselves. They had ended as quickly as they begun, throwing Charon back into reality, yelling something, his voiced distressed. The starry white female stood there in front of him as Charon's mind readjusted back. It seems he startled her, her face either worried for him or concerned for herself. Catching his breath and calming his jolted heart, he reassured that he was fine to her, despite that he wasn't. Deep within, a sense of defeat came through, now that she has seen him weak and gaining some insight into his past. He couldn't reverse it nor force her to un-see what he had just went through. His internal battles were tougher than some of the most difficult opponents he has faced. The tears that had fallen for his deceased brother long ago almost resurfaced, however Yuzuki spoke to him, offering a change in location. Charon slowly nodded, agreeing with the idea. Finally relaxing himself to a gentle breath, he calmly stated, "Yes, let's."

Rising to all fours, his teal eyes silently looked to hers before looking around. Deciding ever which way is as good as any other, Charon just walked forward and would continue to do so, breaking through the tall grass. They left the carcass. Both of them remained quiet, not speaking to each other as they traveled. Eventually the length of the grass shortened and it opened into a grassy, however shorter, field. He gestured they continue as a wooded area lies ahead of them. Every time he would glance back at her, she would either look away or have a questioned look on her face. Unable to stand it any longer, he finally asked, "You look like you have something on yer mind." He inquired and would stake anything it was about him and what had just happened.

PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun Mar 08, 2015 11:21 am

Before Charon has slipped into a sleep again, he had spoke of his hurting her. She paused in her eating, remaining silent as she let him speak his mind. He called her Yuki again, correcting himself quickly as he had done before. Truth was, she didn't much care if he gave her that nickname, it just made him seem not so cold all of the time she supposed. He spoke of his destruction, and Yuzuki had done similar things in her past also, probably not as much as he, but she had a lot of blood on her hands, so she couldn't judge. He then spoke of feeling sick when he realized he had hurt her, she didn't know how to respond to his words at first, she knew he had regretted it, she had seen that regret in his eyes already, but she didn't imagine him to have been so repulsed by his actions. He didn't really care about her all that much, did he? She glanced up to him and half smiled, ''That's because you do actually have a heart, Charon.'' She replied before letting the silence fall between them as he slept.

Yuzuki thought on what he said, if their roles had been reversed, and she were the one to hurt him, she wondered if she would have felt the same. Probably. Yuzuki had a way about her of just moving on from things she had done, regret wasn't really in her vocabulary. Although, she would have possibly regretted doing such a thing to Charon. She shook the thought off and went back to her meal before Charon had his nightmare and she spoke of moving on.

Yuzuki remained where she stood, looking at Charon with slight worry in her eyes. Charon was a complicated man with a dark and mysterious past. He probably had many skeletons in his closet, but Yuzuki didn't really care about all of that. She simply stood there as a sort of pillar of support... or rather, distraction for him from his inner battles. He visually relaxed at her suggestion and she nodded, eyes going off into the distance. It was for the best, walking and finding something else to do would hopefully take his mind away from whatever was torturing him, let his focus go elsewhere, at least for a while.

Yuzuki allowed Charon to choose the direction, and followed step after a moments pause. She glanced back and up through the long grass, seeing the birds of prey plummet down to their left meal. She tilted her head, wondering what her life would have been like were she born a bird rather than a lycan. But wondering wouldn't get her anywhere. Yuzuki stepped gracefully through the grass, her white form well hidden in the long grass until it's height shortened. Charon indicated a wooded area and Yuzuki continued on to it. The smell of earth and bark wafting into her nose.

During their walk, Charon continued to glance at her, she was unsure why. Was he checking she was still there? She felt slightly uncomfortable, and so when he did, she made sure to look away from him. She wasn't used to him giving her such attention, it started to annoy her a little. He then blurted out a statement to her, and she looked at him with a slight raised brow. ''Uh?'' She continued walking however, a piece of bark breaking under her foot, ''On my mind?'' She decided that maybe he wanted her to ask him about his dream or something, ''Uhm, yeah. I was wondering what happened to your brother?'' She asked, glancing to him a little unsure, ''You called out to him in a nightmare you had.'' If he put two and two together, he would realize she had seen his nightmares more than once. Yuzuki would not have spoke on it at all if it wasn't for him keep staring at her, she just simply concluded that he wanted to talk about it, or was maybe just... paranoid.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun Mar 08, 2015 5:24 pm

Their relationship was becoming a little more personal with every word they spoke to each other. Of course, normally Charon would rather leave others in the dark about himself and his intimate matters, letting them know little to nothing about himself. However, it was much too late to even think about stopping himself as he has already involved Yuzuki into his private matters more than anyone else. His tongue loosened as his feelings started to flow a little less filtered. He didn't like it, really, but expressing himself left him more at ease internally, like a bottle depressurizing. A chip of stress flaked away. The self loathing that he had experienced made him clutch at his belly with a paw when he admitted this to the female. Thinking about it still uneased his stomach. He wished he could change time and reverse what he had done. For an instant, Charon's eyes glistened when Yuzuki stated that he indeed possessed a heart. Of course he did, everyone did. But it wasn't for a few seconds he realized what she meant. He turned away, his bottom lip curling briefly, remembering. He had barricaded his heart from emotion for so long, his time with Yuzuki is beginning to break it apart.

-------------------

The ever so common wooded area bordered the plains of Kesel. This is the Ashmere Forest, a large forest that consisted a mix of disiduous and coniferous trees and smaller flora on the floor of the forest. There was still a quite bit of short grassy plains between them and Ashmere. Charon led the way, although he had no idea where he was going. He supposed it was just instinct or was it blind meandering? Occasionally he would lower his nose to the ground, sniffing to see if anything was around he would pick up on. Ears would constantly switch between erect and pushed against his head, tail swishing here and there. It would almost seem if he was trying to find something, though tried to make it seem like just simple observing behavior. Between sniffing and looking back up, an eye would glance back at Yuzuki. One could say he was a little paranoid of his surroundings. Though it really did seem like she did want to say something to him, having that look of questioning. Well if he could voice his mind to her, she needed to feel as comfortable to do so with him. To be honest, he wanted to know more about her, not only because of his privy curiosity, but he felt she owed him at least a little something about herself with all she knows about him. Finally, swung his head forward and told her to speak up if she had something on her mind.

Warning: Power Metal ahead. Mainly referencing it for the lyrics. Great song though and would recommend listening at least once.

>>LYRICS<<

Did he catch her a little off guard, or maybe she was just too hesitant? "Mhm", Charon reconfirmed. He wanted to know and even after she told him, expecting it too, the question still tripped him up. "Damn roots", he cursed under his breath, although there weren't any roots to speak of. He knew that Yuzuki saw his second night terror right before they left about an hour or so ago. However he was unaware that she had awoken when his first one jolted him awake earlier that afternoon. Still expecting such a thought on her mind, Charon was still unprepared fully to answer it, although he did persist on it. Tail became stiff and ears erect as he looked forward. "He died, long ago." Charon answered, however was not done speaking. Slowing his pace, he matched Yuzuki's to walk alongside her. His voice lowered and become more somber, "His name was August and was immortal, like me... however it was imperfect. Limbs wouldn't regrow and anything separated from his body would remain as such until reconnected." A small smile curled his lips shortly. "Before either of us found this out though, we were inseparable since pups and we have always protected each other... I loved him dearly." He reminisced, but his features saddened again, "It's been... centuries, but I remember it like it was just the other day... A day like any other, we were gatherin' food for ev'ryone, but some hunters were hunting the same prey as we were. Not lettin'em have it, we continued after it. Then he was caught by the hunters. Of course, I find him, but there were 5 of them. If I had been stronger back then as I am now, it would have been no problem, but all's I could do was wait for an opening. An openin' didn't come and instead these hunters were sick in the head and stuck an explosive to him, while still tied up in a net. I didn't know what it was at the time, but before anythin' else could be done, I leaped in to attack. I killed a couple hunters before they escaped, but I was too slow and the explosive blew up. His body ravaged, I couldn't... (Sighs) couldn't save 'im with half his body missin'. He died in my grasp...." Once he had finished, his walk slowed until he stood still. He saved her some of the gory details. "Look, I've never said anything about him to anyone, but it's kinda unavoidable since you've seen my night terrors... Now you understand." Maybe he'll stop haunting my dreams if I get this off my chest. Charon thought, perhaps this was a way to clear his mind. Keeping everything inside really hasn't helped and in fact would make it only worse. Telling her did make him feel a little better, much like expressing his disgust for hurting her last night. But could he still retain his masculinity if he was always expressing his feelings and making himself only more vulnerable to this female? But then again, he felt comfortable doing it too...

(Guess we're gonna have to reclocate to Ashmere soon)

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun Apr 26, 2015 3:20 pm

Yuzuki almost instantly wished she hadn't asked, Charon's body language told her how uncomfortable he was, even before he tripped on nothing. She let him blame it on the 'roots' without correcting him, it didn't matter to her. She knew this was something that plagued his dreams, that bothered him, but maybe... just maybe, if he spoke about it... it might help in some way. Yuzuki sighed to herself, what did she know about talking things out? She was no psychologist, but right now, she could be an ear for him, a friend.

Yuzuki's pace slowed a little as Charon began to speak of his brother, her ears went back as she could almost here the grief in his words, the loss, even now was hard on him. Charon slowed his own walk, now walking by her side, she glanced to him as he spoke of him, of August. Yuzuki couldn't help but match the fond smile that Charon showed as he reminisced. She imagined Charon and his brother, their bond. It saddened her though, Charon seemed to have been alone since, from what she could tell. Was this the reason he was so cold? So distant from everything and everyone? She knew that it was a part of the reason, if not all.

Yuzuki glanced back forward as Charon said he love his brother dearly, she wanted to give him privacy almost, she could bet he had probably never spoke to anyone about this before. She saw sadness creep over him, finding herself stepping closer to him before she even realized it. She frowned to herself before concentrating on his words. Yuzuki imagined the scene that Charon spoke of, she grit her teeth and closed her eyes briefly, she could see he blamed himself, that he wasn't strong enough, fast enough. He probably played it over and over in his head, picturing it differently, what he could have done better. She was the same, but she wished he would not do that, she knew he would have done all he could. Some things are unchangeable no matter what happens.

Yuzuki stopped and turned to face Charon as he stilled, her eyes showed sadness, not pity, but an understanding, she wished he hadn't have had to go through that. That his brother were still alive, by his side. She wished for Charon to be happy. Yuzuki nodded in understanding as Charon confirmed he had never told anyone this before. She smiled to him slightly, before stepping to him and resting her forehead against his own momentarily, ''Thank you, for telling me, Charon.'' She paused before turning her back to him and looking out t the scenery. ''You were a good brother, Charon. You still are.'' She glanced back at him, meeting his eyes for a few seconds before turning and continuing on.

''You know, I had a family once too. A pack. I was an alpha.'' She half laughed, she had not really told Charon anything about herself before, but he had told her plenty so it seemed only fair. ''I was a bastard child. I was cast out as an abomination as a pup. Fended for myself with the help of a few of the pack members.'' Yuzuki hadn't spoken about this before, ever. ''My mother.. I remember it all. She was killed, brutally by her mate. Who wasn't my father. My father was not like us, he was... something else...'' Yuzuki shifted a little uncomfortably at that, for she too was a little different, just like her unknown father.

''Anyway. The alpha male was my mother's murderer. I grew stronger on my own, I thrived as a loner until I went back to my former pack, older. Unknown. I infiltrated them, went up in the ranks with ease and speed. I was soon alpha, I took command, cared for and loved my pack.'' Her own sadness swept over her this time, she had done what she needed to do, but she had caused so much blood shed in doing so. Yuzuki went quiet and remained so.
She wasn't ready to end her little story, she had shared some of her past to Charon as he had her, she wanted him to know that she trusted him, in her own way, she did.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyFri May 15, 2015 3:36 pm

A retelling of a story which Charon has never stopped thinking about: the, unfortunate, short story of his brother, August. Despite something that he has never forgotten about, there were times he has wished he had. To give his mind a rest and feel the relief of peace wash over him, even for a moment. If it weren't for his immortality, stress alone would have probably claimed him before he could claim his own life. Everyone wishes for eternal life but they are ignorant of the disadvantages, of the endless grief Charon has, his own thoughts relapsing constantly.

For the first time in a long time, Charon was verbalizing the story that replayed in is mind hundreds of thousands of times. There was a little hesitance in is voice, however Yuzuki listened intently, her attention unwavering. It wasn't until the end that Charon noticed this, she listened without saying a word. She even smiled and frowned when he did, her emotions matched his. Was she truly this sincere with him or was this her way of trying to comfort him? Charon was unsure at the moment, but more unsure of the situation as a whole. How will she react? He has shown her his belly. Will she take advantage of his weakness or...? So much uncertainty ran through his mind and it only troubled him more.

Yuzuki was silent throughout and only nodded in response as he told her that this story has only fallen on her ears. It that brief moment of pause, things were still, though a small smile crept on her face, like she knew where he was coming from, empathy. She knew so much about him now, but he nothing of her. Teal eyes looked away from her warm amber and half closed his own, for some reason he couldn't bear her looking at him that way. How could she look at him with so much understanding. He then failed to notice her approach and then he could feel the warmth of her forehead on his. The comfort he felt was inundating. She thanked him for telling her. So... she really did listen to him and understand. To say at the least, Charon was left stunned by her act of caring and comfort. Yuzuki reassured how good of a brother he was and sill is. Once again, he met her warm amber eyes. What was she doing to him? Not only did she not take advantage of him, but showed that she cared for his well-being and for him. How could she with what he has done to her?

Her words comforted him, however her saying his name, Charon, or the mask he has given himself, was beginning to bother him. The name he wanted to call himself because his given name had forced so much unrest from within was beginning to do the same to him now. He wanted her to start calling him by his real name as he no longer wanted to portray this fake name to her. Opening his mouth to speak, he found that Yuzuki had turned to continue their journey. An exhale exited from his nose and Charon jumped forward to match her pace. It fell silent between them once again, a gentle breeze flowed through their fur. Once she felt comfortable, Yuzuki spoke. She certainly grabbed his attention as for the first time, he was learning something about her. So used to acting all tough and arrogant, Charon probably would have chuckled with her and made some sort of wise crack. However, such a thing would be unwarranted and would be undeserving to her, with how much compassion she showed him. He would listen to her as she did for him, lending her his ear. He wanted to know more about her.

Charon listened with undivided attention. There were several times he wanted to interject, but he wanted her to finish as well. It would seem she has suffered grief as he has. Charon could feel her unease, how shadowed her Father was and how much it bothered Yuzuki. He continued to listen, eyes looking to her often. How sick and twisted it was to learn her Mother's killer became the leader of her pack, her home. Her restraint in not killing him or attempt to when she had so many chances, especially leading the pack along side him. Or perhaps she did, but she didn't say anything of his demise. Charon noticed her sadness, but what could he do to comfort her? He wasn't very good at these sorts of things. He felt the need to return the favor nonetheless. The quietness drew out as Charon did his best to think of something before the window was gone. Hesitantly, Charon craned his neck over to Yuzuki to place his nose on the crown of her head. Remaining there, he inhaled to speak, taking in her scent at the same moment, "If it means anythin'... I don' see you as an abomination", hopefully his way of comfort was working as he was just about going in blind. Releasing his muzzle from her head, he was curious if there was more to her story, as it certainly sounded like there was. With all this talk, they were almost at the edge of the forest.

Being quiet for a little while, Charon took the chance to voice what he wanted to earlier. "'Charon', a name I picked to hide myself from the world and be someone whom I originally was not. I no longer want to hide myself... at least from you. I was given the name 'Raleigh', which I would like you to start referrin' to me as. I am throwin' away the mask of 'Charon'."

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyThu May 28, 2015 6:47 am

The two had gone from being cold and simply putting up with each other, to now opening up to each other and even offering comfort to one another. Yuzuki had to remind herself that they had not known each other for very long at all. Yet, here they were. And here she was, feeling like she had known him for much longer. She had had friends throughout her life, but this little friendship was an odd one, but she wanted it to be a long one and not just one they were enduring because of how much she knew about him, how much she had seen in the short space of knowing one another. Yuzuki shook her head to herself, overthinking things caused her brain ache, and now was not the time for that.

As she had told Charon a little about her past, he gave her his full attention. She was half expecting him to shrug it off, ignore her or just carry on walking like she hadn't even opened her mouth. But no, he was listening, taking it in as she had done for him. Yuzuki glanced to Charon with hesitance, opening her mouth to speak and move on from the morbid conversation, but, to her surprise, she suddenly found Charon's nose against her head. She froze instantly, Charon...showing affection..whatever next? She didn't know how to react, she simply stared at him, frozen on the spot. He then spoke, and his words were yet another surprise to her. He didn't know what she was, yet he had already decided he excepted her for who she was. She looked at him, her stare softening to a gentle gaze as removed his nose from her. She was glad she was not in her human form, for she was pretty sure she would have red cheeks from that comment.

She sighed and smiled a little to him before they continued on. She didn't know what was going on here, Charon had gone from someone she was intrigued about, to someone she would now quite easily call a friend within a very short space of time. She glanced to him once more, and was glad they had bumped into each other the other day, by chance.

Her paws soon landed on the forest floor, the trees now surrounding them. She took a deep breath, the smell of the forest always made her feel at ease. She looked around, her heightened senses taking it all in, from the trickle of water from the river a while away, to the flap of the bird's wings overhead. She smiled to herself and then Charon began to speak once more, her attention going to him. Yuzuki stopped and turned to Charon after he spoke, she held his gaze as she often did and gave him a respectful nod. ''Well...Raleigh, it's a pleasure.'' She bowed, keeping her eyes on his as she did so. A brief smile and then she stood upright once more.

''Well, let's keep going, shall we?'' She turned and began to walk again, a slight smile on her lips that she could not hide. She felt somewhat privileged to call him by his real name. Did that mean that he trusted her? She thought so... or at least he was on the path to trusting her anyway. Where they were headed, she did not really know. But she knew, she enjoyed being in Rayleigh's company wherever they were going.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyThu May 28, 2015 2:29 pm

Feeling the need to return the gesture that Yuzuki has given him, Charon wasn't quite sure as to what or how to do so. She accepted him and comforted him the way that she could and has deeply affected him in a way that he needed her to know too. They both had troubling pasts. The world was not perfect and anyone naive would believe that, but two sharing their own bad experiences are there for each other for comfort. Sadness was unfortunate though it gave reason to be happy and right now Charon would be experiencing the feeling he hasn't for centuries. Wholehearted happiness. Returning the affection Yuzuki gave him, Charon laid his nose to rest on the crown of her head, giving her a gentle "kiss". His eyes closed for a moment as he took in her scent of cherries; a sweet fruit. In a way, he was thankful for Yuzuki popping up out of nowhere and scaring him after his meal.

The slightest curve came to his black lips as he exhaled back out through his nose, surely she felt the warmth of his breath on her crown. Pulling away, Yuzuki was ready to meet him with tender eyes, a similar reaction that she had garnished from Charon just a moment ago, her amber eyes deepening. She matched his smile before silently continuing. Charon however didn't notice Yuzuki glance over his way after they continued walking. Truth be told, he was processing the subtle cherry scent she had.

They were finally at the edge where trees created the tall border between Kesel and Ashmere. At least they were under some sort of protection. The thought reminding him, he remembered sensing humans earlier while on the plains. Luckily they weren't spotted as they gave anyone watching perfect chances, if the humans were hunters that is, something he didn't doubt.

Charon, er rather, Raleigh reintroduced himself by his given name to Yuzuki. He was tired of the mask he has given himself and feared if he continued to use it, his relationship with Yuzuki... well, something might happen that he would regret. Happily greeting him in return, she bowed. Smiling nervously, he waved a paw at her, "No-no, that isn't necessary. You deserve to know my real name... and 'Lee' would be fine, if you choose. You don't need to be so formal."  Raleigh offered, as it always sounded weird when others referred to his whole name. It felt like he was in trouble whenever someone called to him, as his Mother would always call out to him his full name when he was.

Facing inwards towards the forest once again, Raleigh nodded in acknowledgement and followed alongside Yuzuki. While it seemed like they were traveling aimlessly, he felt some sort of drawing power that made him go this way. Looking up through the open patches in the canopy, Raleigh noticed that the blue sky was darkening with grey clouds and the breezes of wind were becoming stronger and more frequent. 'There's a storm coming', he observed. Then like a static shock shooting through his body, a feeling like something bad was about to happen. He stopped and focused, though feeling like he didn't have much time to look. "Shh...", he reached a foreleg out to stop Yuzuki, "Hunters.", his voice was barely above a breath. His ears swiveled, listening. Protectively, his side pushed up against hers as he continued to watch in the other direction. Squinting, his eyes caught the flash of a glare. Something was there and didn't want to take any chances. "Get d-!", was the only warning he was able to give Yuzuki, cut short by the crack of a gunshot. All of a sudden, his vision darkened fast as unconsciousness grasped him quickly. The rifle round piercing right through his temples. 'Dammit! Not again! ...Yuzuki, don't die!' His body collapsed. Raleigh suddenly found himself in that empty space again, lost within is own subconscious. He shouted profanities and for himself to wake up and most of all for Yuzuki not be dead. What felt like an eternity passed and he returned to his body with a jolt. The first thing out of his mouth was her name. However, she was nowhere to be found, though he did see evidence of only his "death", which gave him some relief. But where did she go or get taken to? Immediately he started to sniff out her scent, still fresh in his mind. The storm earlier had begun to set in, gusts rolling through the foliage.

-----------------------------

Meanwhile, Yuzuki was already being taken away in a steel net that had captured her. The hunters strategically shot the net right after the rifle, the gunshot shadowing the firing of the net so she would not hear it. Unfortunately, the net seemed to be imbued or enchanted with some magic-nullifying ability, rendering Yuzuki inside a tired mess, unable to retaliate other than whimper profanities at her capturers. All the while the hunters would hoot and cheer at their prize.

Reaching their camp further inside of Ashmere, Yuzuki would find she wasn't the only one captured that day as there would be other wolves lying inside the nets, no better off than she. "Got a pretty one today!", one would say with a lustful laugh. "Yea, she'll probably fetch a good amount too!", said another. They hung her with the other lot that hung from branches on nearby trees. The hunters prepared for the incoming storm.

Yuzuki laughed to herself more than anything, Rayleigh and his dislike to her formalities. ''Lee'' She sounded out as they continued on with their walk, she liked that. She vowed to never call him Charon again, he had allowed her to call him by his real name, and she would do so now and continue doing so. It had lifted her spirits more than she thought it would have, she felt closer to him, their bond going deeper. The air changed, rain would be coming soon. The wind was picking up and Yuzuki took another deep breath, she liked nothing better then the smell of the forest during the rain. She didn't mind getting wet and cold for that smell... well maybe the cold bit a little, but it would be worth it.

Yuzuki turned to ask Rayleigh if he had a surname but she was stopped short by him stopping her in his tracks.. he looked worried almost and Yuzuki immediately became guarded, not towards him, but to everything else. Her heckles rose, her eyes looking around and a low snarl escaping her. She hated hunters, why did they have to come now? Rayleigh hated them more, she knew. She would do what she could to protect them and fight them off if needed be. Not that Rayleigh needed much protecting however, but he probably thought her some sort of weak female, how wrong he was. Battle could be fun, if they came they she would try and enjoy herself with their bloodshed.

Yuzuki heard a crack of a twig, twisting her body to face it a noise came in another direction, as did Charon's voice. As she turned, her white fur was splattered in his blood, at the same time a net was thrown around her. She struggled and stared at Rayleigh as his body dropped to the floor... a bullet to the head. ''Rayleigh!'' She knew he would come back, but it didn't make it any easier seeing that. She struggled and tried to tear through the net, she snarled and bit out at the hunters that laughed and joked as they came towards them. Her eyes were fierce as she gained her footing, the net still over her. She stared at one, her eyes reddening as she tried to use her blood binding powers... but it didn't work. She tried again... nothing. She used her other powers but nothing.

The hunters were on her now, pulling her away from Rayleigh as they beat her through the net. She squirmed some more, biting any hands that she could, their blood at her maw. It only made them beat her more. She was struck over the head repeated times until she was knocked into unconsciousness, Rayleigh being left behind as his blood pooled around him. She was glad he was 'asleep' she didn't want him to see this, but she sure as hell wasn't about to give up either, it wasn't in her to give up.

She was strung up, the other wolves looking over to her as she came too. She looked down at the ground far below her and then to the other captured wolves. It made her stop in her tracks... the helplessness in their eyes... their beaten and starving bodies. It reminded her too much of her past, it made her snarl even more. She tried and tried again to use her strength, any of her abilities to free herself, but nothing worked. She shouted and swore and wouldn't stop, she wasn't going to be an easy captive that was for sure.

After what seemed like hours, Yuzuki's body was a mess, she was exhausted and slumped awkwardly down against the net. The other wolves whimpered and seemed to have given up long ago. Yuzuki looked out into the forest as the rain began to pour down, her fur soaking through. ''Rayleigh....'' She whispered on the wind, hoping he was okay.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyFri May 29, 2015 9:30 pm

Sniffing the air, Raleigh desperately tried to catch wind of that cherry scent that he had inhaled only moments ago. He would constantly bring his nose to nearby trees, then the air, the floor of the forest then back to the air. His nose would dart around, catching little wiffs here and there. Sometimes he would get other scents, which he assumed were the hunters that had taken her. Between each sniff and step, Raleigh cursed himself. An immortal wolf with magical abilities being taken off guard by a human hunter. Not only was it disgraceful, but it allowed Yuzuki to be separated from him. While he no longer viewed her as a liability if she escaped, he still needed to look after her. Though not realizing it, Yuzuki was becoming someone he could trust, as if telling her his life story wasn't enough. She was his fuse when he got too hot and he was developing a need for her company.

Hopping from each scent he caught, the metallic sharp scent of blood entered his olfactories. He could feel his face drain. Raleigh didn't know whether to be angry, upset or stay calm and hope she was fine. All these feelings instead came at once and he gritted his teeth. "What 'ave they done to you?...I'll kill 'em... I'll kill 'em all! I'll obliterate 'em!" The smell of blood was stronger than any of the scents earlier and was easier to follow. He darted forward, his nose guiding him quickly through Ashmere, swerving around trees. Unfortunately, the storm he had predicted had come, a drizzel turning quickly into a downpour. However it wasn't washing out the scents quick enough and soon, Raleigh would smell not only Yuzuki's blood, but of many others and the smoke from a campfire. Fire... Smoke... Blood...

Each scent grew stronger. For sure he was nearing where the hunters were and their campsite. Yuzuki must be there, he thought to himself. While his ice had already begun to freeze his body out of anger, an internal flame flickered and crackled, his rage slowly fueling it. Teal eyes flashed, seeing the light dance around some trees. There! Slowing himself, stealth was a priority. He wished he could go in guns a'blazin' but he didn't know how many there were nor the situation with Yuzuki. Hiding behind a tree, Raleigh peered around the trunk and what he saw utterly shocked him. Dark fear pierced his heart and his maw went slack. Fire's light illuminated dangling messes of fur from the tree branches in steel nets, most stained with thier own blood. Wolves; all wolves and by species, his brethren. He stared at some with empty faces, were they even alive? This... This isn't even hunting for sport. Could Hell even spawn such wretched souls that would do this to anything living?

Eyes finally came across a bloodied, starry white fur. It wasn't moving. Raleigh then felt like he was being choked, unable to breathe. Don't be dead, was the only three words that occupied his mind, at a total loss for words. Every muscle contracted, suppressed every need to just utterly destroy everything out of rage. Creeping around more, he found the hunters gathered around their campfire, finishing the set up of their pop-up canopy. There they were, enjoying themselves; damn humans!

Slowly a dark aura begun to swirl around him, his Hellish enchantments unable to stay hidden anymore. Suddenly, one of the hunters glanced his way, then whispered to his fellow hunters. "They noticed me?", Raleigh pulled behind the trunk, "How? Human senses aren't that sharp..." Peeking around once again, he noticed that one was gone. Where? "I thought I shot you in the head", a voice came from behind through the rain. Taken by surprise, Raleigh whipped around to see a large lycan wolf coming at him with an uppercut swipe. Jumping back, into their camp, Raleigh was struck along his side as the assailant's claws dug into his skin. Evading it nonetheless, the swipe struck against the tree he was hiding behind and
the claws dug into the wood like a sword against bamboo. If his claws were longer, he could have fell the tree easily. Raleigh's paws slid against the slippery mud that developed with the heavy downpour. Looking up, he noticed he was being shadowed by four other towering lycans. Instantly puzzled, does this mean that these hunters were no ordinary humans, but rather wolves in human skin? Wait then that means... "I don't know how you survived a shot to the head, but if you don't want to join your mate, leave", one spoke up, trying to intimidate him, even they knew damn well they felt something dark and ominous emanating from him. Raleigh didn't say a word as every piece fit together, creating the bigger picture of what exactly was going on. 'Brother... it's happening all over again...' "Bag'em...I'm getting a bad vibe from 'im", another one whispered to the other.

"How dare you... How DARE you! Damn you all to Hell! Blue fire swirled around his form before a column of blue flame erupted from beneath, echoing his booming voice. Meanwhile, the lycan hunters were aghast and jumped back. Only seconds passed before the flames dispersed to showcase Raleigh's lycan demon form, his black sooty fur aflame in a blue aura and the demonic script unraveled over his body, curved horns lit up like candles that sprouted from above his brow.
The hunters shuffled back in fear, "What the hell are you?!", one shouted. "Death." He simply replied. Afraid, one of the lycan hunters ran to escape. Suddenly disappearing into thin air, there wasn't even a trace of his flame to follow. Reappearing, Raleigh had the escapee clutched by the neck with a pawhand. "Escape is futile for you bastards. You all must suffer the consequences for hunting your brethren, my brethren and most of all my only friend!. Such a thing is utterly unspeakable and I shall make a special place in Hell for you lot!" The hunter he was holding coughed up blood as Raleigh crushed his throat with a simple squeeze of his paw-hand. "I'll destroy you!..., letting go of his throat, the lycan was suspended in mid-air as Raleigh's same arm became a blue blur to impale the hunter's chest with his arm, ripping flesh and snapping bone, missing the heart just so he would live just a little longer. The lycan hunter screamed in agony. "I'll put your teeth to the grindstone, I'll tear your mind, I'll boil your eyes!", he threatened him and the other four. Disposing of the lycan, Raleigh casually threw him off to the side, off his arm, the nearly dead body slumping into the mud, only left for him is to bleed out. He stepped towards the rest, already knowing how they will all will suffer. Effortlessly, Raleigh rushed with them with great speed. The one lycan hunter who had attacked him earlier with his speed disappeared. Instead of going after him, Raleigh only picked the next one to die, knowing the aforementioned one will return. Rushing the next one, he swung one of his legs to kick the leg of the hunter, brutally crushing the femur. Then with a chop, breaking the humorous, then the clavicle, and uppercut to the chin, shattering the lower jaw and scrambling the brain, then a final roundhouse to the chest, slamming the broken body against a tree, cracking the trunk. Raleigh's rage increasing new heights, being swallowed by the darkness, he roared as he rushed the next one, plunging his already bloodied paw into the chest and retrieving the heart, ripping it from the ribcage. Eyes rolled back into his head as he collapsed like a rag doll. The last one he rushed received an open palmed thrust to his belly, knocking the wind out of him. This time however, Raleigh attached the blue hell flames to the body, causing him to burn alive, even the rain unable to put out the flames. He watched as the hunter screamed in agony, rolling in a futile attempt to put himself out. Without hesitation, the final hunter rushed him from behind with great speed. Casually stepping aside to watch him fail at his attack, Raleigh watched the shock on his face not change when he delivered a upward kick to his lower abdomen, sending the hunter flying straight up into the air. His hind paw returned to the earth with a thud. Now charging his final attack, Raleigh's knees bent as he pulled back his left arm and his right paw 'shielding' his left fist. Muscles tensed and buldged. Hellish energy pooled towards him in a dark aura, accumulating in his left fist, condensing, thickening. Now, the hunter had begun to fall back to the earth, tumbling helplessly through the air. Timing this final punch correctly, Raleigh stood up and reeled back, then driving his arm forward as his fist meeting the right cheek of the lycan hunter right before he hit the ground. An explosion of dark aura followed as the hunter flew from the demon's fist and into the forest, snapping through trees like they were twigs, landing at his ultimate  resting place against the last tree he was to hit.

Heaving, he suddenly felt spent as his bloodlust was finally filled, the flame of his rage reducing to embers. Now to free those whom they've imprisoned and Yuzuki. The thought of her helped to clear his mind. Turning towards the wolves that have been captured, the ones that were awake whimpered in fear. "Shh... I'm here to save you", he reassured, although can understand their fear. He cut them down one by one, a total of seven were strung up and Yuzuki making eight as she was last to do. Right before he could however, something struck him from behind and impaled through his stomach. Gasping, blood erupted from his throat and overflowed over his lips and his clenched teeth. Turning back, Raleigh noticed it was the lycan hunter he 'killed' first by impaling his chest. "H-how...?"

"Aw, you don't recognize me, Raleigh?", the 'kind' voiced asked. "Lucifer! What're...ack!" The fallen angel withdrew the lycan hunters paw from Raleigh's abdomen and spun him around. Quickly, his thumb forefinger and middle touched the demon's chest which brought his seal's key to show in white on his fur, the same as before. Doing so forced Raleigh out of his demon mode and the effects of the transformation diminished. The hole in his body started to close. He remained frozen unable to speak, only to listen. "I'm sorry to do this so sudden, but I had a marvelous idea just recently. With you being my vessel n'all, and with me being in "God's" image and by default, the humans, and without you having a human form, that creates a bit of a dilemma. So, I'm here to give you a present, hope you like!.. I must commend you on your slaughter... Keep using my power" As Lucifer finished speaking, Raleigh's body began to crawl as a new shapeshifting process began. Unable to react, he was only able to grunt as the pain of the transformation didn't stop until it was complete. Once it was, Lucifer left the body he possessed and it fell back to the mud. His vision blurry, Raleigh looked in horror at his fur-less skin as he lifted his hands and felt how flat his face was. He was furry in a human way and had long flowing locks of hair of the same tone of his fur. But most horrifying of all, he looked back to find his rear tailless. "My tail...", he whimpered. He was angry again, however more traumatized at the fact he how looks like a human, a species he despises. This only furthered his vengeance against the fallen angel. One day...

Yuzuki by this time probably beckoning for him to cut her down, Charon would do so, finding it a little challenging to call forth his ice to create an edge to cut the steel net, and also difficult to remain standing with plantigrade feet, rather than the digitigrade feet he's been use to. Cutting open the net and pulling the steel cables apart further, he released Yuzuki and pulled her free. "They didn't hurt you too bad, did they?", Raleigh said softly to her, stroking her crown with the back of his fingers. He cradled her in his arms as the rain continued to pour and thunder rumbled through the sky. Looking back at the carnage, he noticed how it was still dry underneath the canopy the hunters put up. He brought Yuzuki to the dry area, followed by the rest of the wolves so they may dry. Now he wondered about the rest of the wolves and what he was going to do with them. Some probably needed treatment, an area he wasn't all too familiar with. Spent from overusing his power, Raleigh was tired and suffered lingering soreness, grunting like an elder each time he moved.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySat May 30, 2015 5:53 am

Yuzuki watched the rain pour down on the ground below, her body was cold to the point of shivering but she forced herself to stay awake. The hunters below called up to them every once in a while, threw things at them just to taunt them. As Yuzuki looked around at the other wolves, she realized how young some of them were. Where were their families? Their packs? Maybe they were all lone like she and Lee were, but none of it mattered. She had to get them out of there, get them free, some how....

Yuzuki remained still, her mind going into strategic mode, she watched every move the hunters made, listened to their words, scoped out the resources that they had here. If only she could get out of the bloody net, she reckoned she could take them. Whilst she was too busy planning, a familiar voice boomed out and Yuzuki immediately stood and turned to see Raleigh standing there, she couldn't describe the feeling she felt at seeing him there, she felt it in her gut. ''Raleigh..'' Her eyes widened as she saw the hunters were lycans, just like them... it made her anger turn to fury. How could they? How could they capture and torture their own kind for what... for profit? She was sickened. She could see Raleigh was too, she watched the changes in him carefully, his demonic, darker side breaking through to the surface. A part of her was worried for him, but it didn't seem like it was before when he had attacked her, he seemed more in control this time.

Yuzuki's eyes widened slightly as Raleigh's demonic form changed his body, she hadn't seen this before, her heart rate increased but not in fear for herself, but in fear for him, she didn't want it to consume the Raleigh she knew. Head and eyes followed his every move, watching him slaughter the lycans below with ease, the smell of their blood was heavy in her oversensitive nostrils. She couldn't help the vampiric urge that came in her and her fangs began to show. Raleigh was on to the last hunter, the strength that came from a single hit was insane, the lycan was sent flying through the forest, trees breaking, the noise of it all would have spread for miles.

The flames dissipated and Yuzuki placed her paws against the net she was in, she smiled to Raleigh as he begun to cut the others free. They were scared of him, but anyone who didn't know him would have been after seeing that. She watched him cut the last one down, the youngest and she sighed in relief, they would be safe now. He came to her but, ''Lee!'' She shouted out as a lycan impaled him. She knew Raleigh had killed him before, she wondered for a moment if he was like Raleigh was, but then quickly realized what was going on here. Her heckles went up, her fangs still there as a low grumble was heard in her chest.

Yuzuki struggled to free herself once more, watching as Lucifer touched the seal and Raleigh go back to normal. She knew there would be more to this little visit, her muscles were tensed as she continued to free herself. Rayleigh began to grunt and squirm at whatever Lucifer was doing to him. She stopped her struggling and watched as his body transformed into a human one, she was speechless. The lycan fell back to the floor as it's possession ended and Raleigh's confusion was etched all over his now human face as he felt his body.

Yuzuki bit down on her lip to stop herself from laughing, and also, laughing hurt her right now as her body had been yet again battered. Seeing Raleigh in human form was a little amusing though, seeing his annoyance to it. ''Wow...'' She uttered aloud as he came to cut her free. He held on to her and she nuzzled in against his human form, ''I'm alright..'' She answered softly as she looked up to meet his eyes, they were the same at least.

He brought her over to the dry area along with the others, and when she released herself from him she shifted forms to be in her human one also. She stood there a moment looking at him and admiring him, he was a beautiful human. She ran her fingers through his long hair and smiled, ''You look good in this form too..'' She laughed before picking up some cloth and wrapping it around him to cover him up before doing the same to herself. He would have to get used to the whole nakedness when shifting thing now. ''Thank you for saving them...'' She gestured around to the others, ''And me..'' She smiled before she placed a firm hand on his shoulder and pushed him down, ''Sit...''

Yuzuki immediately got to work, from her scoping out earlier, she knew where everything was. She brought the medical kits to the middle along with food and water supplies. She accessed the injuries of the others and dealt with them accordingly, ignoring her own obviously, she would be fine. She took extra care with the youngest lycan, Jesus, he was so young. She smiled softly to him as she tended to his wounds and brought some water to his maw. ''There, rest now. You are safe.''

After she had dealt with them, she came back to Raleigh and brought her hand to his chin as she examined him. He looked exhausted, she sighed and ran a hand down his human cheek a moment before sitting herself down beside him with some food and water for the both of them. ''How are you feeling?''

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun May 31, 2015 10:07 pm

'A human?! He's... just fucking with me! Damn that shitty Lucifer!', a string of more cursing followed in his mind. His blood began to boil again, wanting to just burst in blue flames and destroy everything again. Instead his anger was anti-climatic, only tiring out the immortal more. While he did have super regenerative abilities, a more sustaining effect of triggering his demon mode and using a monsterious amount of aura was that it fatigued him greatly. His injuries healed, but he couldn't muster any of the demon aura back and could barely muster his own. It hurt to move his body or do anything strenuous. Raleigh will definitely be out of commission for a few days at least.

The rain continued to pour and soft rumbles came and went. While immune to the cold, being the hairless ape he was, he could sense that there was more of a chill to the air. Fuming at the most current events to his change didn't help anyone and there was still Yuzuki to cut out of the steel netting. Turning around to face her, wobbling whilst doing so, he shuffled towards her. Catching the light of the flames on her amber eyes, they glittered as they stared at him. Her bottom jaw was even slack. Raleigh knew this look but he only garnished this reaction from her with his new form. Truthfully, he didn't know whether to be insulted or flattered. Nonetheless, he tried to ignore this reaction from her as he tried to cut her down. It wasn't until the "Wow" that uttered from her lips that broke his concentration, "Shut up", his cheeks flushed.

Finally Raleigh pulled her free and inquired of her well-being. Relieving it was to hear that she was 'alright', although visually she was battered. Yuzuki being the last to the dry area, he set her down by the fire to dry. Standing up from a squat, he grunted like an old man, sore everywhere, limbs feeling heavy and feeling like he could sleep for days. There was a short pause of just the fire crackling and the heavy patter of the rain. Raleigh's eyes closed as the fire began to dry him. His mind went free, just for a moment. 'Auggie... I wish I could've saved you like I did her. Maybe... In a way... I avenged you? He knew it wasn't the same, but maybe his mind will get some rest from the ever-occurring nightmare that haunted him. Was a heavy weight lifted off his mind or was it just his fatigue?

Shuffling in the dirt, like one of the wolves moving for better comfort caused him to open his eyes. A lightly tan skin growing and moving to stand caught his attention. Eyes widened as Raleigh quickly learned it was Yuzuki who had shifted to appear similarly as he did. She turned to face him and helpless to her feminine "charm", it happened to be his turn to stare. Despite hating humans as a species, there was something about certain human females that turned him on. Perhaps it was his past of sexually attacking them, despite being a wolf. A thing long in the past, habits die hard and Yuzuki was no exception. Not entirely shameless, he forced to look away from her "eyes" and back up to her face. He swallowed the lump that had built up in his throat as his cheeks flushed again.  Having now human chemistry a part of him, the female human body was better understood by him. A female was a female and he was a male, right? Then truthfully, there should be no harsh judgement upon him for becoming aroused at seeing the attractive figure of hers. Oh, the conflicting emotions.

Maybe she didn't see where he was looking as she approached him. He didn't notice her checking him out though. Looking to her face, she still had the same amber eyes and the starry white hair upon her head, though blood stained and he noticed the cut on her brow and blood smeared on her face, partially washed away from the rain. His arousal was killed as he remembered how she had barely healed from only a couple nights ago. He needed to remember it wasn't only him that sustained injury. Raleigh's cheeks flushed again at her remark of him and as she ran her fingers through his long hair, that rivaled the length of hers. He didn't know what to say. He wanted to tell her to shut up again, as initially he took it as an insult, but this time he could tell that she was genuine. Even if he hated it, she saw him all the same. A callused hand hesitantly reached up, but before she even noticed, Yuzuki grabbed some clean cloth that the hunters had lying around and covered him up. Much like a shower towel, it covered from his waist down to just below his knees. Those human clothes he wore the other night would come in handy right about now. Yuzuki then covered herself, covering more than she did he. Tucking the fabric into itself so it would stay, a hand swept across the others, thanking him for being their savior, before lastly gesturing to herself. Nervously, a hand raised to clutch at the back of his neck before rubbing across his shoulder. Feeling that gratitude was already implied, he didn't need to hear it. He needed to make up for hurting her the other day. Before he could say anything, the firm grip of a woman taking command took hold of his shoulder. A simple command left her lips and before he knew it, his rear feel to the ground. A good thing his legs were at an angle and not flat or else there would be another tent pitched at this campsite.

Leaning up against a log that had been intended to use as a place to sit, Raleigh watched as Yuzuki cared for the other wolves that had been taken here. Just now realizing that damp hair laid across his face, he pulled it back. It was a mess, but i was at least out of his face. One pup he had noticed earlier when carrying it to the fire, he must've been in his early adolescence. Not a young pup anymore, but not old enough to be on his own yet. He wondered if this group were kin or perhaps were all wanderers and loners like they were. Thinking about it, their safety was a concern, but after he knew they were well, he didn't want them getting attached to him or Yuzuki. Their company was not needed, nor did he want more lives under his care. Hers has already kept his past few days exciting and worrisome all the same. The rain not letting up, a flash of lightning lit up the trees and soon followed the clap of thunder.

Yuzuki finished up with the last one, soon returning to him. Taking hold of his chin, she looked him over before running her palm across his cheek. Even though he should know the answer, he almost didn't want to and still asked himself: Why was she being so tender with him all of a sudden? A female's touch was... different. But it reminded him of the comfort he felt not too long ago before they entered the forest. He felt undeserving somehow of her comfort, of her. He averted his eyes from her as she moved to sit down beside him, offering food and drink for them to share. Yuzuki asked of his well-being. A perverted part of him said 'hot-loined', but instead he filtered his tongue. "I'm immortal, remember? I'll be fine. I think yer injuries are more of a concern. You should've dressed yer wounds too." Raleigh moved to sit up more, grunting, and then crossed his legs. Looking to her, that cut on her brow was bothering him. As any wolf would to help an injury, Raleigh lifted a hand to clasp at her shoulder and pulled her closer to him, and started to lick at the blood that dirtied her face. The wound had already begun to clot, so once he was done, he sniffed to make sure he didn't smell any more blood. Sitting her back up, he saw there was a bruise on her upper arm, but no bleeding. "Or am I gonna hafta do it all myself?" His voice became more stern, but will Yuzuki catch the underlying protective motive he had in his words?

PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyMon Jun 01, 2015 12:20 pm

Yuzuki was oblivious to the wandering eyes of Raleigh, she was too busy focusing on the others and of course, on him, checking he was okay. The rain continued to fall as she had sat herself beside him, she liked it. She looked around beyond the dry patch and the noise and smell of the storm was almost comforting for her, washing the blood away. She thought about the bodies of the lycans that Raleigh had killed, what would happen to them? Maybe they would be eaten away by other animals or would simply rot away to bone and be buried in this place. She couldn't stop thinking about why they would have done this to their own kind, they were no different. Perhaps it was simply down to money, or maybe it was much bigger, she didn't know. Her eyes cast around the forest floor as she thought about it all. She knew it must have struck Raleigh hard, his brother had been through the same but this time Raleigh had been able to save them.

She looked at him a moment, worrying again that the fact he was able to this time would make him give in to his newfound powers more easily. She didn't want it to consume him, to turn him in to something he was not. The realisation came to her that she didn't want to lose him. Yuzuki leant back against the log that Raleigh was using, she rummaged around and brought some water to her lips after she asked him how he was feeling. She hadn't known how thirsty she was. The others were to it seemed, she looked at them all as they ate and drank as though they had been strung up there for days.

The flash of lightning lit up the forest and as it did, Yuzuki met Raleigh's eyes as he answered her. ''Technically, I am immortal to.'' She piped in, ''Just not in the same sense.'' Yuzuki hadn't thought about her own injuries too much, she probably looked a state, but she would survive, she had a knack for surviving after all. ''I didn't think about it....'' Yuzuki noticed Raleigh looking at her eyebrow, she raised a hand to touch it, only just realising she had a cut there, but before she could do anything else, he had pulled her towards him.

As he began licking her wound, Yuzuki froze up a little, she would not have thought in a million years that he would try and tend to her like that. She let him continue on, looking over his shoulder, his scent was strong in her nose, and like with the storm, she found it somewhat comforting. He sniffed her and then finished and she looked at him with gentle eyes a moment before smiling, ''Thank you.'' She nodded, and drank some more of her water. ''I really need to teach you how to act human in this form.'' She grinned and gestured to his frame.

He then changed his tone of voice as he spoke to her next and she met his eyes, was this him caring about her? Or was it still guilt from before? She thought the former. ''I can look after myself believe it or not, Lee.'' Her eyes glinted a little as she spoke to him, she knew he was trying to be protective over her in his own way. ''I'll be fine, I promise.'' She smiled once more and leant back on the log, leaning her shoulder into his. ''What now? What will we say to them?'' She knew they wouldn't stay with them, he had a hard enough time staying with just her let alone enough wolves to start a pack. ''Do you think they are a family?'' Yuzuki hoped they would be okay now, go back to their lives and be safe and never hunted again.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyTue Jun 02, 2015 2:39 pm

Raleigh had noticed the food and drink that Yuzuki had brought over for them to share after tending the other wolves. Truthfully, he didn't need nourishment to survive like mortals did. He could go months, however it would result in a very tired body and uncomfortable situations. Surviving and performing at peak efficiency were different however. His body would eventually become skin and bones if he did not eat or drink, thus sapping away his strength and endurance he has built up over the centuries, but he would still be alive. Especially from that great use of power of using his demonic ties, not only was he tired and fatigued, but it felt as if he hadn't eaten for weeks, even though he cleaned the bones off that elk he caught that morning. Looking to the pile of packaged snacks, he was unsure of what they were, never seeing contemporary packaged human food. Picking something random, he picked up a bag of beef jerky the hunters seemed to have numerous bags of. Lying the bag on his lap, he then grabbed a bottle of water. Staring at the plastic bottle, Raleigh concentrated on how to open it. He's used so few human items and the bottle was a bit confusing. He tried pulling off the twist cap, but no dice. He then tried using his teeth to pull it off, however with the same results as before. He growled in frustration and put the bottle down in his lap to go for the jerky. The plastic bag he tried tearing, but only succeeded in stretching it. Using his teeth again, Raleigh tore it open. Success! Fishing for a strip of jerky, he eyed it curiously before biting a piece off. Finding it tasty, but incredibly hard to chew, his macerating was noisy, not knowing of the term "chew with your mouth shut" as it is his first time having closeable lips and cheeks to chew inside of. It seems he did have a lot to learn not only about this new form but about humans in general. A subject that he will most likely be very reluctant to learn.

Swallowing his first bite, Raleigh ripped off another piece of the jerky. Worried about her injuries and she about him, he told her he would be fine, but she was of more concern to him. She responded rather quickly, about her immortality. This came as a shock to Raleigh, never thinking of such a thing in a thousand years. The lump of jerky in his mouth he swallowed too quickly and got caught in his throat in mid-swallow. There were a couple muffled grunts at the discomfort of choking and he began pounding his chest with the broad side of his fist. Swallowing again and with the pounding off his chest, he managed to get the food down with a sigh of relief. Back to Yuzuki, the shock returned to his face, "Wait, you're immortal too?! What d'ya mean 'not in the same sense'?!" It may have sounded like he was yelling at her, but he was more surprised to hear such a thing. He thought his pack was the only one granted immortality. Was she a part of a different pack that had similar ties to the devil or was her immortality gained through different means? So many questions popped into his head. "Why aren't yer wounds healing then? How'd you attain immortality? Was yer whole pack immortal too? How'd you kill yer Father then?..." Questions quickly rambled off his tongue, then he stopped, thinking of something that was more dire and his voice softened some, "Do you still have yer soul?', his tone became more serious with an underlying tone of being distressed.

After that ordeal, Raleigh was still upset about her injuries, especially the one on her brow. Deciding to take matters into his own hands from her stubbornness, he took hold of her shoulder and brought her face to his. Licking her injury clean, he sniffed her more before sitting her back up. It seemed it was her turn to be shocked, however when he looked to her, the gentle look in her eyes deterred him slightly from his stern attitude. She thanked him but he only grunted in return with a nod. Yuzuki then remarked in how he needed to learn some things while appearing like a human. A brow lifted, "Humans don't clean their own or other's wounds?"

Feeling like he would have to be the one to care for her if she wouldn't, he voiced this. She smiled to him and reclined his offer. She didn't sound very believable though, "Oh? And who's cleaning the wounds of Yuzuki?" A sly smile came to his face. She tried to reaffirm him in her ability for self-sustainability. "You don't sound very convincing...", he let out an exaggerated sigh, "Guess I'll just hafta stick around so you have someone to get you out of trouble", he smirked before chewing off another bite of jerky and jabbing her with this elbow.

Looking to the ones he saved earlier when Yuzuki mentioned them, he barely noticed her lean up against him. "Something we'll have to ask when they wake up. We'll figure it out better when they do. No use in thinking about it now though; we'll just have to wait." It was late in the afternoon now, probably about evening time. The storm didn't let up and the sky was becoming gradually darker. Finishing his first bag of jerky, Raleigh was about to open a new one until he realized the fire was almost reduced to embers. Fortunately the hunters already had fuel for the fire nearby. Of course it had to be on the other side of Yuzuki. Taking it upon himself to do it, he reached over her lap, getting on all fours, though not on his knees but his toes. He was too lazy to stand up. Retrieving a few big logs, he tossed them into the fire. Sitting back against the log next to Yuzuki, he watched the fire grow big and strong again after a few moments. The warmth wasn't so strong that it caused him discomfort, but enough to fully dry him. Unable to call forth his ice easily, Raleigh's body was, for once, warm to the touch, like any warm blooded creature. Yuzuki should realize this by now and by the warm fire, she should be comfortable. It grew quiet by the fire, waiting for the other's to wake. Raleigh yawned before opening more jerky and going to town.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun Jun 21, 2015 9:50 am

Yuzuki turned her body to the side to face Raleigh a bit more, she watched him struggle with the water bottle and then the jerky bag, but she chose to leave him to it. She didn't think he would like her to interrupt just yet, he was the determined type, he had to learn for himself sometimes too. He managed to open the jerky after giving up with the bottle, chewing it like... well like a dog would. She smiled a little, it probably felt so strange to him, being in this form. He was somewhat like a child in a man's body.

Yuzuki took another sip of her water after she spoke of being immortal too, Raleigh seemed to swallow the jerky the wrong way and nearly choke. He blurted out questions to her, almost shouting at her. The attention of some of the others came their way a moment. Yuzuki reached over and grabbed his bottled water, opening it for him and hoping he watched so he could learn. She then held it out to him with a small smile, his abrupt question about her father made her pause momentarily before she glanced away. However, as he asked about her soul she laughed a little and looked back at him. ''My soul?'' She said whilst chuckling, ''I'm not sure if someone like me even has a soul..'' That was the truth at least, she didn't know that answer. ''As to your other questions, my wounds don't heal like yours, they heal normally. Yes, I am immortal but, as I said, in a different way. I cannot die from old age. How I look now, I will always look this way. I can die like anyone else, but should I remain healthy and not somehow die in battle, I will live on.'' Yuzuki only knew this because she had once found others like her, half breeds, a whole pack of them and they enlightened her to what she was. ''My father... I don't know who or where he is, or if he is still even alive. I presume you were talking about my former alpha male. I did kill him...painfully...'' Yuzuki's eyes darkened a little as she pulled forth that memory, the satisfaction and blood lust she had felt.

She rubbed her temple briefly before taking another sip of water, ''I am not you're average lycan. Just put it that way.'' She wasn't willing to bare all, just yet anyway.

After Raleigh had taken it upon himself to clean her wounds, she answered, ''Not in that way. They use lotions and bandages, that kind of thing. His next few comments made her smile, so he would stick around and pretend it was just to take care of her. Maybe there was some truth in that, or maybe he just enjoyed her company as she did his. ''Well, a comrade is always helpful.'' She grinned as she looked at him.

The evening set in and everything went quiet, peaceful as the other's went to sleep. Yuzuki nodded, yes, they would deal with the rest in the morning. For now, they could at least sleep easy knowing they were being watched over. The feeling was a familiar one to Yuzuki, the feeling of watching and taking care of others. Protecting them. She looked over each of them and a silence befell her, her eyes seemed to be emotionless, but she thought of her former pack, hoping they were all safe and well, thriving with the alpha she had left them with. Suddenly Raleigh was over her on all fours, and she leant back to give him some space, ''Oh..don't mind me...'' She chuckled slightly, readjusting herself as he sat back down. The warmth of the fire was a humbling feeling, as was the heat from Raleigh, which was unlike him.

A few long hours went by as the others slept. Yuzuki couldn't sleep however, she just sat there thinking about anything and everything whilst still being on alert, she couldn't settle. ''Raleigh?...'' She asked quietly, not sure if he were still awake also. ''If you would, I want to see how my old pack are doing...'' She would go whether he wanted to come with her or not, but since they seemed to have stuck together, she thought it fitting to invite him along to.

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptySun Jun 21, 2015 4:06 pm

Surprise was an understatement for Raleigh to learn that Yuzuki was immortal too, but he was surprised nonetheless. So much, the beef jerky that he was munching on caused him to choke. Clearing his throat, questions unfiltered were thrown at the poor woman. Was she immortal just like him or was it different. She did say it 'wasn't in the same sense', so how much was she different from him? Finishing his barrage of questions, he watched her hand grab the water bottle he was having trouble with and then open it with ease. "How'd you do that?", his voice has since calmed, taking the bottle from her in a normal manner. Inspecting it briefly and sniffing the neck of the bottle, the water was odorless, different from the usual stream or spring water he was accustomed to. It was water nonetheless and tipped the bottle over to let it spill into his open mouth. Gulping down the entirety of its contents, he sighed with satisfaction from the liquid and caught his breath. Raleigh's forearm raised to wipe at his lips. Having not stopped listening, she seemed confused about whether or not she had a soul. So it would seem she was not like him in that respect, though questioned the existance of her own. He grunted before he said, "Everyone has a soul and if you don't know what I'm talkin' about, then you still have yers. The immortals that I've known don't have theirs anymore, including myself", though not necessarily the kind to explain himself, he volunteered this information to Yuzuki so she would better understand his reasoning.

She offered answers to the rest of his questions. Teal eyes looked to her as she answered calmly. It would seem that she is only ageless, but has no advanced healing like him, though he would have to remark, her injuries seem to heal quick for one's healing factor that is normal. His left hand raised and clasped his chin in a questioning manner and rubbed at the scruff that covered his skin there. All in all, she was not like him and could rule out she was not kin, even in the most remote sense. A stray thought came to his mind. She would always appear the same, never aging. A female in whom he liked and had began to trust, would never age, just like his extremely decelerated aging. Such a combination he had never thought possible. Not straying too far though, the mention of her Father returned his eyes to her. He nodded slightly to reassure her as to who he was insinuating upon when he did ask the first time. "Good", he reinforced the fact she killed him, "I would be certain he tickled the male-hood of other males with his mouth in his leisure and sounds like an all-around Fotze*." Raleigh spoke casually of the dead male, cursing him in his grave. At least they both had a mutual dislike for him.

He couldn't help but laugh at her 'I'm not normal' statement. Holding his belly, it took a little while for him to calm himself. Pushing back some hairs that had fallen onto his face. He rubbed the tears from his eyes. "Yer tellin' the immortal wolf that has been enchanted by Lucifer himself and has been granted demonic powers against his will that has left some archaic language etched onto his left arm forever", he pointed to said arm. It wasn't til now that Raleigh noticed that the language was branded onto his skin and scarred the tissue. He was used to seeing white fur. "... No one in this world is normal, take it from me and my experience." Clasping at her shoulder, in essance, he wanted her to understand that being different wasn't so different. Humans were odd creatures though, using materials to clean their wounds, rather than just licking them away. He made a 'weird' face and shook his head slightly. She needed the help nonetheless and he said he would stick around, saying it like it was his unavoidable duty. Grinning, Yuzuki welcomed the comradery. He only grunted in response.

Adding more wood to the fire, the flame increased in size and warmth. He did in fact not mind her, not thinking of what he done was necessarily wrong in any respect. Resting back against the large sitting log, the night grew upon them and of the two that were still awake remained silent. Despite not speaking to each other, Raleigh was satisfied with just sitting, listening to the rain and crackle of the fire. He was unsure if Yuzuki had fallen asleep as he did not move and neither did she and there was curiosity if she was sleeping. Minutes turned to hours of their silence. His mind grew vacant and lazy, though he didn't close his eyes. The silence was broken however when Yuzuki whispered his name. Shifting ever so slightly, he grunted, "Hm?" Head lolling to the other side, eyebrows raised at her suggestion. "Oh?... I take it you'd like me to...", he kind of trailed off too. Shifting again to sit up more, he continued. "Whenever yer ready, I'm right behind yeh."

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyTue Jul 07, 2015 4:45 am

Yuzuki laughed a little, ''I will teach you.'' She grinned, ''I will teach you all the basics of this pitiful human life.'' There was a slight twinkle in her eye, he made her laugh without even the intention to. As they spoke of souls and the lack of, Raleigh downed the contents of the bottle rather quickly, maybe like she, he didn't realize how thirsty he had been beforehand. Raleigh then went on to say that if she didn't know, then she did have one. Perhaps he was right, she was half lycan, and as far as she knew, or believed, they did have souls. She wasn't to sure about her other side, but at least she maybe had half of one.... Yuzuki turned to Raleigh sharply as he said he didn't have one, ''I find that hard to believe.'' From the time she had spent with him, what she had seen and the friendship they had made, ''Well if you don't have one, you deserve one.''

As she spoke of her previous alpha male and his endings, Raleigh seemed to be in lost in thought before his attention returned to her and his comment made her laugh yet again, pulling her away from her more murderous mind. ''Oh, I'm sure he did spend his spare time tickling the man-hood of others.'' Yuzuki was not one to mock the dead, but in his case, she was all for it. Raleigh seemed to hate the male as much as she did, which she found rather comforting, he was a good friend, and with their mutual hate, it seemed to make her bond with him even more.

Raleigh began to belly laugh at her statement of not being normal, she paused to look at him. She hadn't really seen him laugh like that before, not a deep laugh and in his human form it made her smile. He had a good laugh, a catching one. She tilted her head to the side in a small nod, ''Very true hell hound.'' She glanced at the runes after he did, not really looking at them in this form of his. They were still quite obvious, but didn't stand out as much as they did before against his fur. She took a strip of bandage from the first aid kit beside her and began to wrap it around the runes as she had done previously. Raleigh held on to her shoulders and looked her in the eyes as though to reassure her that she was fine, a few days before she would have lumped him one for touching her, but now she found herself studying his human face before he released her with a grunt.

The silence overtook and it was a pleasant peacefulness that settled Yuzuki's mind a little until she spoke of going to her former pack. Raleigh shifted where he sat and responded. ''Yes, I would like you to... if you, uh... if you don't mind?'' She sounded a little uncomfortable in asking, not one to ask for anything really, but she found that she didn't want to leave without Raleigh, she didn't know when they would meet again if she did. His words made her smile, she knew he had her back and she his. She trusted him, she realized that now. ''Let's let them sleep and see them on their way in the morning. Then we will go.''

First Steps into a New Life; What Now? Empty
PostSubject: Re: First Steps into a New Life; What Now?   First Steps into a New Life; What Now? EmptyTue Jul 07, 2015 6:34 pm

Raleigh chuckled along with Yuzuki as she promised to teach him the ways of 'pitiful human life'. That would be useful or else if he appeared as a human in their society, he would be instantly spotted as an outcast. Humans would be forever the most odd creatures to Raleigh, but he was willing to learn, to be with Yuzuki. They had become giddy as they laughed at each other's jokes and antics. Speaking about the heavy subject of souls has brought them back to Earth for the time being, each adopting a more serious nature. She didn't believe him, how hollow he was, soulless. It was true, but she counter argued that he should in fact have one. A curve came to his lips as he glanced downward. "I appreciate the sentiment, but it's true. If we had a way to see the souls of others, I'd show you... It was the exchange for the immortality that I, and my past kin, have endured. I learned of this from my elders and they told me if and when we would die, we'd become nothing...." He paused for a moment, hesitating to voice his faults. "Having learned this, I trained to become strong and save mine and my brother's soul from Lucifer's grasp. But I was anxious and my haste got the better of me and I was cursed as a result, as well as imprisoned in Hell for over two centuries." He rubbed the scarred tissue on his left arm out of habit.

Yuzuki and Raleigh shared more laughter as the silver haired woman enjoyed and shared his thoughts on her deceased Father and ex-Alpha of her pack. Unlike Yuzuki, he was happy to trample on the graves of those who committed such heinous acts, especially against their own kind. This is when he began to regret some of his past acts when he turned sour towards the world. He wasn't one to talk of such things, as he isn't free of blame. Perhaps when he has completed his current journey, he could start a new chapter, redeeming himself in any way possible, righting his wrongs, repenting. He had a feeling that Yuzuki would be with him and that made him feel happy inside.

Trying his best to comfort her in his own odd kind of way, he told her that she didn't have anything to worry about and in a way, they would be outcasts together. She agreed, calling him a 'hell hound'. He chuckled, "Oh, am I a Hell hound now? I guess it fits." A small smile rested on his lips. He wondered if he should take it as some sort of compliment, coming from her. Both looking to the branded runes that marred his skin, Yuzuki took hold of his wrist and brought him closer to her. Taking some of the bandages that wrapped up some of the wolves they rescued, she covered up the marks, hiding them away. To be honest, he didn't even think about wrapping them up but didn't oppose her as she did so. It was surprising she remembered that he would want them covered, even though they've known each other for a short period of time. Once she had finished, he reached over and clasped her shoulders, looking at her fond manner, again silently comforting and showing his gratitude to her in his odd way.

Lulling into a quite night, Yuzuki asked of him a favor. She asked for him to accompany her to her old home and with little hesitation, Raleigh agreed. It sounded fun and interesting. Perhaps he'll get to know more about her. Stating he would be right behind her, he finished his sentence with a yawn. All of a sudden he was feeling like he could sleep and her mentioning it made him yawn again. His eyes closed as he nodded lazily in response. "In thah mornin'... sounds good..." The darkness of sleep overcame him as he quickly drifted off.

A dream came to him that night, one that was finally different from his usual night terrors. It was short and quick. 'Waking up' in his dream, a figure stood over him. He couldn't see much as it was shadowed because the fire was directly behind the figure. It only spoke and it sounded much like Lucifer. "You have a powerful spirit, as I have so witnessed with the soul of yours I have in my possession. I chose these strong spirits throughout the world and mold them into my vessels. It just so happens I chose you as one of those and now you are in the process of becoming my vessel to appear permanently in this part of the world. Be happy that I'm giving you the ability to become human, it is a gift from me to you." Then the figure jumped and dove into Raleigh's body. Scaring him awake, Raleigh woke in a cold sweat. Looking over, it seems he didn't disturb Yuzuki. Luckily, he was still quite fatigued and within minutes was able to fall asleep once more.

(Feel free to take it to the morning.)
